Be prepared for a charming, friendly tale. Simone is a typical girl who's finding her place in the world and she has a nice streak of creativity. Her parents are biracial and her skin color is not the same as either one. So she's talking to friends and looking at different things that are shades of brown, like peanut butter and chocolate, but none seems exactly right to describe her special skin color. The key to solving her dilemma is her love for her parents. Simone clearly has a positive view of life and loving relationships with her parents, so she creates a color related to her feelings for her family. It's a winner and an inspiration. At the end of book author Fields invites young readers to find creative names for their own skin colors. Illustrator Moises provides warm, colorful backdrops that makes us like Simone and her family and environment instantly. Nice work.

A very real depiction of the inner life of a child who is struggling to answer the question, "What color am I?" Simone is not black like her mom or white like her dad. So what color is she? The reader follows along as Simone examines one color after another and comes up with an answer, and a color, all her own.

Beautiful story of how a young girl finds her place in her mixed family and celebrates herself. Lovely activity at the end that encourages kids to find the words to describe their own tone --none of us are really black or white -- we are humans of different shades.

Such a cute book. I had planned on getting this book for my biracial daughter even before I knew a lot about the book. When I found out the main character and my daughter share the same name, I was sold!

I hope to be a future mother of a beautiful biracial baby one day....but this book isnt the kind of message that is damning on any mixed child.Children shouldnt have to wonder what color they are...they should worry about what they're going to learn tomorrow in school, or what game they should play next.Children should be color blind. And should be accepeted as PEOPLE regardless of what skin tone they are.If your child tells you that someone asked what color they are, tell them that they're beautiful regardless of what color they are, and whoever wants to know should mind their own business!I get what the message of this book was trying to send...but it was executed and written poorly...I swear...everyone thinks they can just write a book nowadays....

I enjoy this book, I first checked it out from the library and knew I needed my own copy. I am a huge fan of Louise Hay after reading this book and have some of her other works. Great for anyone on a spiritual path longing to connect with themselves and bring a sense of love and ease into their lives :) Affirmations are truly transformative!

This book changed my life. I know you've heard that said about a lot of books and I'm sure there are other fine books out there. But this one,You Can Heal Your Life, by Louise Hay, is the motherbook from which all others evolved. I was introduced to it in 1990, 26 years ago, when I was 42. At the time I was reeling from a pessimistic cancer diagnosis, the end of my marriage, and the development of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I'm almost 69 and this is the book that showed me how to live with and through all that and more. I've given away at least a hundred of these books and this one went to my new friend, Tina, who is excited about the changes in her life she has already made. I can't recommend it highly enough.

This was one of the hardest books I've ever read. This little book took me forever to finish. Not that the writing was hard to digest. It was the work and activities and reflections to make the corrections to bring healing. Which is all still a work in progress. Hey, I've lived 47 years of being broken so I can't expect to heal all that hurt instantly, but this gave me a great starting point and great tools to begin the work.It actually IS working too. I'm choosing to respond to situations differently, and to even look at them differently.My favorite example to tell people from the principles I learned in this book is being on a plane for over 3 hours with a crying baby. No, not crying. Wailing at the top of his or her lungs. As you can imagine, EVERYONE, including myself, was irritated. Some more openly so than others. But I came to a part in this book that talked about giving love to difficult people and situations and giving what you want to receive.So I started sending healing, loving thoughts to that poor baby and the mom. Because I knew she did NOT want to be THAT person, right? The one with the crying, inconsolable child. So I closed my eyes and just sent loving white, calming light to both of them. And prayers for comfort and calm.Guess what happened? The baby stopped crying. Did my thoughts do it? I'm sure what actually happened was the poor kid tuckered him/herself out from all that bawling, BUT...it erased my irritation and made me feel better. It felt good to give, even anonymously, like that. Much better to put positive energy into the world rather than feeding the negative.This book will be one I'll have to reread and revisit from time to time. And the work/exercises are still ongoing. Some I haven't had the courage to try yet. But I'm glad a yoga teacher mentioned this book in passing. It was an answer to an unspoken prayer to be led to a path of healing. I love it. I just wish Louise was still around for me to tell her I'm among her legions of fans now.

This book gave me the key to release all things negative. It took me six months. For years or decades I have struggled with depression. Every ten to twelve years it haunted me again and again - the past. I cannot stress too much that this small book contains the key 'I am willing to release ...". It sounds so easy and it is so easy. This key in conjunction with the 'Power of Now' from Eckart Tolle (books, youtube) was the way for me out of this vicious circle.I hope this review helps others to stumble upon it - it is so worth it. Everybody who is looking for the way out of these vicious circles knows what I am talking about. This finally worked for me.I am so thankful that Louise Hay brought it into the world.

I bought this book on a recommendation of a friend, thinking I would like to create a more positive attitude from within myself. But, after perusing the contents, and as a nurse, I find this book to be completely without scientific merit, shaming, preposterous, and possibly even dangerous and damaging to someone naive enough to take it as fact. For example, author states that the reason for senility in the elderly is "Returning to the so-called safety of childhood. Demanding care and attention. A form of control of those around you. Escapism." And Alzheimer's is caused by "A refusal to deal with the world as it is. Hopelessness and helplessness. Anger.". A diagnosis of either of these problems is devastating both to the individual and to their families. But blaming the individual for a problem most people wouldn't wish on their worse enemy in such a way not only places a big steaming pile of guilt on the patient, it could also create a family dynamic that is non-supportive and possibly even dangerous. Abuse of the elderly with such diseases is a very real problem in some families. Imagine if caretakers truly believed the only reason Mom has senility or Alzheimer's is because of the above reasons.Or, suppose you are diagnosed with cancer. Well that's because of "Deep hurt. Longstanding resentment. Deep secret or grief eating away at the self. Carrying hatreds. "What's the use?"". I find that analysis to be deeply offensive - - not only to cancer patients and cancer survivors but to their families and caretakers and support systems. How dare she! This book is a complete load of crap. Also - interesting note: I was able to return it for a full refund it for a full refund with shipping paid for by labeling it as "defective". Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for positivity and life reform.

I was looking forward to this book because I believe in the holistic mind-body connection. However, this book is a bunch of made-up nonsense that encourages people to take responsibility for any harmful life experience and assigns mythical causes to every disease or physical symptom. I find this incredibly damaging and as a therapist and holistic practitioner I would NEVER recommend it to a client. Instead I recommend the works of either Dr. Bessel Van der Kolk or Dr. Carolyn Leaf.

I read this whole book in one sitting, and it has been decades since I have done that. Suchard explains how to get started as a mentalist, which is ten minutes of meditation every day, plus learning as much as you can about related fields. He lists five or six books that he found helpful, and I am going to buy and read every one. And I am going to start my meditation tomorrow. After reading his book, I feel more excited about my life than I have in a long time. In addition, I have just ordered from Amazon two introductory books about getting your chakras working on all cylinders. I will be buying more.

Fascinating story. I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars because most of the effects rely on Suchards natural talents rather than trainable skills, as was implied in the promo for the book. However, with a bit of concentration and application much benefit has come as a result of the ideas contained therein. You owe it to yourself to check it out.

Lior Suchard shows us quite a few amazing feats. He makes us wonder about the powers of the mind. And that is what his purpose is, to get us out of our behaviour on autopilot and make us wonder again. He's not interested in teaching us how to do what he does, but in showing us that there is more to a human mind than most people take for granted. His book is an invitation to the reader to start exploring his/her own mind and changing the course of his/her life as a consequence. The message is that people can be much more creative than they usually are. In this sense it is not only an entertaining but also a challenging book.

The book is fun and makes a very entertaining read; the title is a little misleading in that 90%of the book is about Mr. Suchard's successful (and often remarkable) career as a mentalist, with maybe 10% dedicated to some exercises that may, or may not, 'unlock the power of your mind.' Though the book fails as a tutorial, or even as a reference to the techniques of mentalism, it is nevertheless such a fun read that it's well worth the time spent with it.

Great read...this book will leave you believing you are capable of all your dreams. Thank you Lior for your inspiring work and incredible positivity and demystifying what you do and how you do it. You show us that what/how you do what you do is nothing to be feared but reveared. Bravo!

While the stories in the book are a bit entertaining that's really all this book was. A bunch of stories about Lior's shows and experieces traveling around the globe

It's more a "look how awesome I am" than a book to learn how to unlock the mind.

This was a fun book to read, and also learned allot about how much more I can use me "full brain". The book is written for anyone to read very lighthearted and so refreshing, content should be practiced and taken seriously but if you are in sales, HR, or customer service great information to be used to help you read your customers become better at what you do.

I thought the article was well put together. I was assigned to MCB #6 from Oct 1958 till Oct 1960. I was on the original trip to Spain to build Rota Naval Base in Rota, Spain. After returning to Davisville, RI, I was then sent to Argentia, Newfoundland where I worked on the air field that terminated at the oceans edge. Both of these assignments were in the historical pages of the articles. I had a great, short time in the Seabees. After leaving the Navy 6 year commitment, I rejoined the US Army where I served from Mar 1963 until Oct 1987. Had a wonderful career, and it all started with the Seabees at Davisville, RI.

Brings back many memories of Davisville, including many photo's that I wish that I had taken while stationed there. Forgot so many things about the base, that this helped fill in the void.

My husband was part of this unit and I am proud to have this book among his navy history. Lots of history here. Thank you

I found This book to be a very good history of the U.S.Navy Seabees. From the Beginning in 1942 to the present. The pictures bring back many fond memories of over 50 years ago. I joined the navy in 1956 and was discharged in 1962. I spent 3 years on active duty and 3 years in the reserves. I served with USN MCB-1 out of Davisville, Rhode Island.

Great photos and stories! Exactly what we were looking for as a gift to a former Seabee! He was pleased with it.

It was a real joy reading this book. I read this from cover to cover in three sittings. The presence and peace of God flooded me as I read. The book explains a lot that I am still due to walk in and do in ministry. It is a great, insightful, detailed book that I can see myself returning to again and again. This book is an excellent resource for any Christian. It does discuss about being a Seer in the book, but the vast majority of the book is information valuable for all Christians. The author includes prophetic experinces, testamonies, anointing, and Sonship. He also spends time discussing humility, love, faith amd the Holy Spirit. I recommend this book to every Christian. What James Maloney mentiuons about the Seer he expalins easily for the average reader to understand. He does use some personalized terms and gives you the meaning right after.

Great book on the operation of the prophetic anointing and well balanced in it's presentation.

I really enjoyed this book! There has been so much 'weird' about prophets and mystical experiences. James Maloney gives some clues on how gifted prophets (and those just pressing into the more than enough) can stay 'connected' to the foundations of their faith and the true source of revelation. Clues on how to avoid some of the pitfalls of 'unknowingly' moving in the power of witchcraft - which can sometimes be a thin line! Staying out of the 2nd heavenly realm for revelation and pursuing revelation from the 3rd heavenly realm, whilst moving in the supernatural. I learned much and had much confirmed. A great tool for those who know what I am talking about when they read this !!!

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I am only about a third of the way through. So far, Maloney describes some of his latest supernatural interactions with God. I find it faith-building to read accounts of God allowing the author to co-labor with Him to heal people spiritually, emotionally and physically. I appreciate how he spells out the Biblical principles that he believes are key to positioning ourselves to receive more of the prophetic-healing annointing. He definitely believes that what he is experiencing with the Lord is what God wants to activate on a larger scale within the Body of Christ. The first chapter would be especially helpful for individuals interested in the concepts of the "communion of saints" and the possibility of being able to minister through the Holy Spirit so that we literally do/say what Jesus would do/say. I ordered this book after a very positive review from a friend, so I am confident that the rest of it will be just as incredible!

The days of slumber are no more! people are being re-vived and this next generation will pass on a "vive" with no need to "re" anything. If this book does not excite you, you need to check your spiritual pulse, get on your knees, and cry out to God asking for Him to wake you up!!! so you can see Him as He truly is, a good Father who loves to give His children good gifts. I can't recommend this book enough, order it today and begin to fine tune your spiritual senses by waiting on The Lord!

In spare and luminous prose, Wen brings to life the life of Marcel Marceau, a man, a mime, an entertainer who seems to have lived an outsize life driven by a desire to be bigger and better than any other mime. I think like most people that the subject of Marceau and mimes isn't one that would capture my attention. So it is to Wen's credit that I was invested--and invested through the cataloging of details, that again on its surface seems like simply a list of objects and items, but in Wen's hands illuminates the life of her subject and adds to the mystery of what drove this man.

For any Marcel Marceau fan, this book is a quick and interesting read.

As a mime myself -- with Marcel Marceau as a part of my lineage of teachers -- I struggle sometimes to talk about how it works. But Shawn Wen does a masterful job. She says things like “This is a part of Marceau’s vocabulary,” using terms of language to describe his art form. In the process, she also reveals how unique and brilliant Marceau was.He was a man interested in everything -- art, history, people, culture, psychology, and more. His work was an expression of that, as a silent observer of the human condition. Wen also pointed out something that I had not considered, too: that Marceau’s silence was partly a response to his experience of fleeing from the Holocaust (and changing his name). In other words, he was reporting on the human condition, with the constraint of being silenced. The political and social dimensions of the essay were unexpected and memorable.That said, this biography (if that’s even the right genre label) is not a glowing one. The author had her own lines of inquiry about the nature of pursuing art and being in the world. She did not set out to make Marceau look perfect, and indeed he wasn’t. She did, however, bring the attention of her readers to a subject worthy of attention. Ask yourself, what creative legacy are you leaving the world? How have your experiences formed that creation? When pursuing something, how disciplined will you be?All told, if you are interested in a good essay that will provoke interesting questions, this is worth your time. If like me, you are a student of mime or theatre, then a bit of the history of one of the masters is a great addition to your shelf.

If you were an editor or lit agent and someone pitched you a "meditation" on the life and work of Marcel Marceau, you would have to ask for pages just to see if the author could pull it off. Well, Ms. Wen more than pulls it off, she hits it out of the ball park. (The real kind, not the imaginary mime kind.) Using terse yet poetic language, even her cataloging of Marceau's extensive collections shine. She makes fascinating the roots of mime in la commedia dell'arte, brings life to Marceau's performance -- imagine this feat, transcribing a mime performance.Wen's book defies format definition or easy categorization. It mixes poetry, essay, documentary, and biography. All at once. No doubt her work writing for public radio has informed her writing for the page in interesting and fortuitous ways.At the time of this review, she appears to be reading around the country. I have not seen her read but look forward to the next chance I get.

Shawn Wen, is quite the novelest, it's a must read..😊
