I want to rate this 7 wonderful tangled stars! I feel like I’ve been waiting for this book my whole life and it was definitely worth the wait! It’s so much more than what I hoped for and everything I dreamed it would be.There are just so many things that I love about this book; mainly that it answered all my lingering questions from the first 3 books, the chemistry is off the charts, it almost felt like a slow burn, Jane is so cute and endearing and I love her to death, I got to see a different side of Thatcher and he is so much more than I hoped, Cobalt siblings, Jane’s word vomit, SFO, Marrow, lots of funny moments, epic OMFG moment, and so much more! I still can’t stop thinking about it and I’m going for another reread! I just wanted to get my first thoughts down, but it’s likely I’ll come back and add more to this review later.I LOVE THIS BOOK! Krista and Becca have truly outdone themselves and I think it’s their best work yet!! My absolute favorite book of theirs so far!

This was another perfect addition to the Like Us Series. Full disclosure, I view this series and the Addicted/Calloway Sisters Series as one huge family saga, and every additional book keeps getting better and leaves me wanting more.If you haven't read the Addicted/Calloway Series technically that's okay, but in my opinion you're missing out! It's honestly one of my top 5 favorite series and the Like Us Series feels like a continuation of that. so do yourself a favor and start at the beginning. :) If you really don't want to, then you have to at least start at the beginning of the Like Us series. It's a true series so Damaged Like Us is where you want to begin...... But for real...start with Addicted to You (it's currently free so no excuses!)Okay, now that's I've said my piece about the first half of this awesome family saga, let's get into Tangle Like Us.I adore Jane. I loved her in the previous books, but getting to see things from her perspective really sealed the deal for me. I love that she speaks her mind even when it’s embarrassing. I love that she’s always true to herself and tries to ignore other people’s opinions of her, and I absolutely LOVE the love and loyalty she has for her family....And Thatcher! He’s so damn swoony! I know he came off gruff and broody previously but I just KNEW there was more to him than meets the eye. His loyalty to family-both his actual family and the SFO family-matches Jane’s. I love how well he understands her, always protects her and supports her. They are perfect for each other. They had obstacles in their way, and still do, but their love for each other prevailed and it left my heart so happy. I can’t wait for more of their love story and more of the Hale, Meadows, and Cobalt Family Saga in general!

This was by far the best book of the series. TLU perfectly balanced the romance and family dynamics of the characters.Jane and Thatcher are such an amazing couple. They balance each other out perfectly. I loved seeing them slowly get to know each other and fall in love. Their chemistry is off the charts and so natural. I hope their next book is out soon because I can’t get enough of them. There were so many scenes where I had to physically hold back a smile, they made me so giddy.Jane’s brothers all make an appearance, as well as her sister. I love the Cobalt gang so much, I really want them all to get their own romance (especially Charlie & Beckett, I need to see who manages to bring them down). The famous Wednesday dinners also makes an appearance, which I enjoyed. I adored meeting Thatcher’s family and getting to know about his past. His mother and grandmother were a breath of fresh air. I wish we had gotten to know Banks a little more, but other than that the family scenes were A+.This was a classic KB book, it really reminded me of their Addicted series, and it made me so happy. Sinful Like Us is going to amazing, I can’t wait to see how Thatcher and Jane’s relationship continues, and there were some loose ends that make me really excited for the next installment.

What can I say, I devoured this one just like I’ve devoured every other KB Ritchie book I’ve read. Krista and Becca are without a doubt at the top of my author list, they are so freaking talented and their stories are simply perfect.I was looking forward to this book ever since Damaged Like Us and needless to say this one did not disappoint. The relationship between Jane and Thatcher was so amazingly perfect, their attraction was undeniable, the tension so explosive and their respect and reverence for each other was everything. The sexy times are scorching hot too! I can’t freaking wait for the next installment of this series, so many questions and possibilities. Give me Book 5 soon please!!!!

The author clearly states he is not writing a "survival guide". So in a way he does what he intends to do, he has written a book which mentions a lot of concepts that were important in the advancement of civilization. In some ways this is more of a history book than anything else. Just knowing about a concept is a big step toward actually being able to reinvent it.The nitty gritty details are almost never mentioned. This is not a "how to" book at all. And this gets to my main point, each chapter really should be a book unto itself. A single *short* book can not hope to cover this subject matter.My guess is that from the title, the primary people who will be attracted to this book are "preppers" but unfortunately there is very little of value for a prepper. And if we really want a "Library of Alexandria" which will survive a disaster and guide us to rebuilding then it just plain has to be more than a single book that skims over a lot of interesting concepts.I'm also disappointed that the book doesn't make more of an effort to discuss avoiding the mistakes we have made. Conventional, traditional farming is one chapter ("Agriculture"). Perhaps it would have been wiser to discuss the mistakes of conventional farming and point out the merits of sustainable agriculture as an alternative model?Amusing reading? Yes. Practical advice? Not really.Don't get me wrong, there are some really cool tidbits mentioned in this book and it has not been a complete waste of time to read it. In particular I really liked the mention of the "absorption refrigerator" which sounds like a great energy efficient approach to cooling instead of our energy hungry compressors.American readers might be a little unsettled at this very much England centered viewpoint. (which I actually found a refreshing and charming point of view)If all other knowledge is lost and a human discovers this book 100 years from now (assuming they still know how to read English), the concepts will be inspirational and may accelerate rebuilding of society.

What I was looking for was a book about 'how to rebuild our world from scratch'.A series of 'this is how to build a fire', 'this is how to identify iron-bearing rocks', 'this is how to smelt iron', 'this is how to build a steam engine, etc.The book instead is a series of chapters describing problems that one facing the rebuilding of civilization would face with no solutions. For example it describes how post-1800s farming requires industrial nitrogen fixing and how not having that is an issue, without providing a solution.This book is a good starting point for research, but is not what I was hoping for.

This is a pretty good book. Entertaining, a good light treatment of the topic...And the lightness is my main problem. Everything is covered in to shallow a depth, the author doesn't explore any one topic in sufficient detail, and the end result is...Well. The author comes out (towards the end) and says this is a thinly disguised popular science popularization, rather than a flawed-but-serious attempt to do what the book is marketed to do.So... the marketing is hyperbolic, and a huge let-down. Maybe pick up if this one's under $4.00 on sale, or buy for a precocious 12 year old, rather than an adult with a strong technical background.This would make a better TV show than a book.

Well written and fascinating. I read it cover to cover. I put it next to my throne and it captivated me unreservedly! I don't plan to rebuild civilization anytime soon, but I enjoyed discovering how the scientific principles of our complex industrial world were discovered, and then learning how the technology was developed that underlies modern civilization.I'm filled with awe at the brilliant people who have built our modern civilization.I heartily recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand how the things we take for granted actually work, or who wish to appreciate what amazing ingenuity went into developing our present civilization.I bought a copy and sent it to my brother, who also reported enjoying it.

This is a very informative book with a lot of fascinating detail. It is basically a thought experiment. If most of humanity was wiped out in the morning and a handful of people remained, could they survive and rebuild modern technology? To determine this, Dartnell looks how these technologies were originally developed and any possible short cuts which the survivors could take.The ‘apocalypse’ itself described in book was very clinical but this book is not meant to be a blow-by-blow instruction manual. I couldn’t see survivors sitting around it deciding what to do on Day 24. However, it does contain a lot of high level technological insight that a post-apocalyptic Edison or Pasteur might find useful and could spend years of their lives trying to leverage.The book is apolitical. Its focus is the technology. If you need advice on how to hang on to your post-apocalyptic fiefdom, consult Machiavelli, Sun Tzu and other experts in such matters. Oh, the book doesn’t cover killing zombies either.Some readers might find the advanced chemistry section a bit of a drudge, but I can’t see how Dartnell could avoid that, given leaving it out would undermine the book’s purpose. On the flip side, it provides useful context for any fledgling chemistry students.The footnotes throughout the book are consistently very interesting. I think any writer interested in world building would find the book very useful.One thing to note is that the book is shorter than it appears. About the last 20% is filled with references, including a useful list of relevant fiction.One final word of advice. If you want to tuck this away for the apocalypse, so you can amaze the other survivors with your scientific knowhow, remember to buy the paperback, not the ebook. Unless you’re really sure you can get those generators up and running.

my granddaughter loves this book, her exact quote "this will help me a lot" - my daughter says it's better than anything they found at the library

My three year old is enchanted with the book. There are only about 10 'rules' presented in the book. The text is about one sentence per page. It really is aimed at younger children, probably under 5. Its a nice introduction to calling for help, bee stings, bites, scraped knees, and choking. Don't expect a rule book, but if your little one asks lots of questions and enjoys a nice non-fiction book before bedtime - I highly recommend.

The only value of this book is in the reading practice a young reader might get. As for it being a resource to smart, capable young members of society, which may help them have pertinent information in a time of emergency - ZERO value. They will learn NOTHING from this book that a responsible parent hasn't already taught them. Really disappointed with this book. We will be donating it to the library, as it is of no use to our family.

A compelling book and a terrifying one. And a must read for anyone who's worried about what they're eating. And anyone who's ever wondered how come chicken and eggs are so cheap nowadays at the supermarket. Back in 16th century France, King Henry IV when he acceded the throne found a country devastated by war and launched what was probably History's first campaign to fight poverty and stimulate economic growth. He famously used the slogan "a chicken in every Sunday pot" - meaning that a chicken, then a luxury, should be the one meal of choice for every French family at least once a week. Now, four centuries later, we have chicken every day, we have eggs galore every morning.But what kind of chicken is it, what kind of meat? The author does a superb investigative job to answer that question, talking to everyone at Tyson Foods (one of the biggest corporation controling the meat market, from egg to frozen food) and digging into its history. All that makes for a captivating account. What contract farming means for the farmers working for Tyson Foods is revealed in all its hair-raising details.A pity the book doesn't go as far as I would have liked - but I shouldn't complain, after all, as its title implies, it stops at "the meat racket". Still, I would have liked to see more about what it means for consumers, I am especially worried about all the chemicals and genetic manipulations that go into modern meat production and what they do to us humans - could the current ghastly wave of obesity that has overwhelmed America and is now reaching Europe be ascribed to them? I fear so but of course I don't have the proof and this is not a book that will throw light on that aspect.Nevertheless, as far as it goes, this is an excellent book and it should be read. Your next fried egg will never look the same to you again! And maybe one of these days, in a follow-up book, Christopher Leonard will apply his remarkable investigative talents to uncover what modern agriculture does to human health. I am looking forward to it. Meanwhile, read this book, highly recommended.

I am a poultry farmer and I appreciate Mr. Leonard's shedding light on the way the industry operates. In the last seven years I have seen expenses increase with no increase in the amount I am paid per pound of chicken and in fact have seen my income fall due to production cuts, yet I have seen the large poultry companies report record profits.

I have enjoyed all of the Dragon VP books. I think this is my favorite thus far. Imagine explaining the spirit of Christmas to an alien. It has all the misunderstanding and warm feelings you would expect.

Dragon-shifter Peridot is sent to earth to find out what is the spirit of Christmas. He has an appointment with a female named Karmel. When she doesn;t show up on time he goes to her to intervene in a scene an older woman is causing. Then when she asks for a reschedule, he reminds her a prior appointment she has. Then her friend who she;s to meet tells her she;s not even in the country but in Australia. So she convinces him to accompany her on her shopping trip. Only once klutzy moment turns into two and then three. Through all this Peridot is very stoic. Karmel decides she;ll get him into the holiday mood if it kills both of them. Meanwhile poor Peridot is trying to figure out why her smell is so intoxicating. On they continue with the shopping going from one catastrophe to another, from one misunderstanding to another. Peridot is totally confused when he still can;t figure out why he feels like he does and reacts to her as he is. Now what;s a human female and an alien dragon to do?Fantastic story and read!!!I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This novella is another wonderful addition to this super enjoyable dragon shifter romance series. For full disclosure, this short story did originally appear in the anthology, All He Wants for Christmas as: Her Perfect Christmas Dragon. It has now been revised and some new content has been added. This Christmas themed romance brings us Karmel and Peridot's romance. There is so much sweetness in this book. It is impossible not to fall in love with both these characters. Peridot is all alpha hotness, with a side dose of grinch due to his complete lack of knowledge about everything Christmas. Karmel was his exact opposite, as she embraced everything Christmas with everything she was. Peridot is closed off emotionally and uptight, while Karamel is always exposing her emotions and is a chaos magnet. They have pain and issues that weigh heavily on them that must be addressed and worked through. I highly recommend this book and series. With powerful emotions, humor, drama, timely important themes, sweetness and steam all rolled into one delightful package, these books should not be missed!
