This book is OK for a person with basic sewing skills and though it's a book on "Sewing Leather Accessories", it's written using techniques anyone that sews fabric items already knows how to use. The book is great for someone that wants to make something with their home sewing machine. The techniques include using materials you would use if you were constructing a fabric bag, such as facing, interlining, etc.In this regard I could give the book 4 stars. But It was disappointing for me as I was seeking detailed information for the leather crafter that wants more knowledge of the craft of making fully leather bags. I already had the knowledge that this book details because I've been a seamstress most of my life. I flipped through it and now, I'll probably just list it for sale somewhere.

Not a lot of examples and patterns but if you ever thought of making a pair of leather gloves, this is for you. The instructions and illustrations are really well thought out. It's a handy addition to anyone who makes leather handbags.

Although projects are dated the information on sewing leather is fantastic! Worth every penny!

I learned so much reading "When Lupus Throws You For A Loop." I found myself wanting to take notes as I read the book. Although it is a very serious subject, I also found great humor in the book. One passage in particular was quite humorous and made me smile. The author, Donna Oram, explained how difficult it can be to make plans in advance for fear that you may become symptomatic and have to cancel them unexpectedly. Her husband had a business party that was mandatory and they were both required to attend. She reluctantly agreed to go and she went out and purchased a new outfit for the event, although she was so nervous and anxious about the possibility of being too sick to attend. As it turned out, they were unable to attend: her husband had the flu and was too ill to go to the party. I laughed and appreciated the irony. As a reader, there are so many gems in the book that can be applied to so many different situations that people encounter in their lives. The book is an amazing tool for someone with Lupus, but I also think other people with unpredictable diseases will also benefit from reading the book.The book has done a masterful job of guiding the person with Lupus through the entire journey and prepares them for the unexpected nature of the disease and other people's reactions to it. The author has great insight and helps the reader understand how the disease can "Throw You For A Loop." It is a five star book, and I highly recommend it.

I was diagnosed with lupus after a dermatology appointment earlier this summer. It was quite the surprise. I read this book a a road trip this past week and it has answered so many of my questions and gave me ideas in things to discuss with my rheumatologist.

I read this book in a couple of days and was disappointed in that it only covered the issues of feelings and psychology for a patient with a Lupus diagnosis, and the support network of family and friends. The most telling idea she gave in the Preface, that while in college she had been diagnosed with Epstein Barr Virus. If you pick up a book called "Medical Medium," by Anthony William, you will learn that he thinks Lupus is a stage 3 viral infection of Epstein-Barr (p.45). I was hoping for a book that might delve deeply into the physiology of Lupus to add to my understanding of the cluster of symptoms from my research with Dr. Google.

I highly recommend this book for those living with Lupus, especially for newly diagnosed individuals and their loved ones. Ms. Oram writes in such a down-to-earth, relatable manner - she doesn't talk above you, as some of the more clinically-focused literature tends to do. This is a great read with practical advice and anticipatory guidance.

This book is fabulous for everyone. Not just people that have Lupus or friends and family members. So much applies to "all" of us and dealing with life. So many POSITIVE words for us to "all" live by. One can relate to everything Ms. Oram states. So, helpful in opening my eyes to things we meaningful say BUT not interrupted the way we meant it to be. Raising an Arab-American Muslim son is hard work in Kentucky! I've bought a lot of books off of international and Muslim websites for him because I want him to be able to relate to his books. Some of these books, however, are of very low quality either in binding, or illustrations, or sometimes even text.This book, however, mirrors my son's actual experiences AND is high quality! I gave it to him at the beginning of Ramadan last summer and couldn't have more things to say about it. I think it's a great introduction to Ramadan for little Muslims and non-Muslims who have Muslims in their classes at school/daycare, etc.

This book is perfect for little ones. I was trying to find a book to explain to my 3 year old about Ramadan and Eid. This book lays everything out in simple terms that my son understood. After reading it, he knew what to expect during Ramadan and looked forward to Suhoor and Iftar every day :)Also, love that this book is written so that anyone can get a basic understand of the culture because Katz uses arabic terms and breaks them down phonetically and makes it easy to follow.Overall great book!

Perfect book for young ones! My daughter wants to read this all the time.The pictures are very well done. Wish the book was a bit more sturdy though as one of the pages ripped a few times after she read it.

I was so psyched when I found out that one of my kid's favorite authors had done a book on Ramadan. (Thank you Karen Katz!) I was even more excited when I received the book. The illustrations are wonderful and whimsical. Ms. Katz has done an excellent job portraying life for a typical Muslim child. I especially enjoyed how she represented how multicultural a typical mosque in the US is. That's one of the wonderful things about being Muslim in the US--you are reminded every day that Muslims are not just of Arab origin. :) I know this will become a family favorite. Too bad it isn't on sturdy board stock like our other favorite Katz books. :)

Got these for my grand kids.

So excited to have a way to include culture for the younger classes at my preschool!

The recipient loves to be read to and his father tells me he wants to re-read this book over and over... colorful pictures are excellent...
