Whenever I have a reason to go into third world hell hole, I always like to have a map of the place, just in case I might wish to move on quickly. Ghana is not as bad as some of its neighbors, however finding a map in country, is often impossible. I have found the ITMB maps to be just so-so in terms of accuracy, however often they are the only road maps you can find.!I have seen high standard roads shown on maps, which simply do not exist. I have seen towns of 15,000 people simply omitted, because the people there are of a minority tribe. The Ghana map is just so-so in my opinion. But it is better than none at all!

Apparently this is the only road map of Ghana commercially available. During four weeks of travel in Ghana I found this map to be full of horrendous errors, some gross ones, others in small detail.Major roads are simply not shown on this map, such as perfectly good roads leading to Ada Foah, or there are roads shown that do not exist in reality. I came to several towns of very significant size that were barely a dot on the map.I have the impression that this map is essentially based on maps drawn during colonial times in the 1920's.The only useful map I encountered in Ghana is a map issued a few years ago as a promotional effort by Toyota Co., but this map is unfortunately no longer available.The map serves well to obtain an overview of the geography of Ghana, and once this is done, one should rely on the small but detailed and usually very accurate maps in travel guide books. I used the Bradt Guide for this trip and was very well served.

This is the map you want when you go to Ghana. I've been going for 13 years, and nothing is close to this.

Ghana is a small country. Yet this map is ridiculously oversized, with the northern half of the country on one side and the southern on the other. That makes it unnecessarily difficult to plot a trip when you can't see the entire country on one side. A country this small and mostly rural doesn't require a great deal of detail. The map covers up my whole dining table when I spread it out. For that reason it's very frustrating and hard to use.Unfortunately, you may not be able to find another Ghana map. I've been looking, and this one seems to be the only one available.

This is such a great book. The pictures are full of energy and motion and, there's so much detail, they are fun to look at again and again. I also enjoy the silly text; the rhymes have a good bounce and carry you through the whole day with this boy, Zach, and his mischievous pup, Rufus.My 2yr old asks for it regularly.

My 2 year old loves this book. It's one of her favs. Lots of rhymes. If your kiddo likes dog stories this is a good one.

I love children's picture books. They are invaluable to the process of children learning to read and to love books. The pictures in a good picture book entertain, engage, and enlighten. In Hickory Dickory Dog, the author/illustrator utilizes the well-known nursery rhyme Hickory Dickory Dock to convey the relationship between a boy and his dog.Dogs simply don't go to school (at least, people school), but Zack and Rufus do and their activities are charming and so much fun. Each page shows us a delight. Allison Murray brings rhyme and art to a delightful level of joy for the young child to enjoy. This book is for the very young to grade 2 child. Zack's dog Rufus is his best friend. It is no surprise that the pooch wants to go to school with his little buddy. Of course, Rufus gets a little too much into the "school thing" but the results are funny. Children three years of age and up will find much to laugh at as they page through this book and read it at story time. Actually, mom and dad will probably get a few chuckles too. You won't be barking up the wrong tree if you purchase this book...it is too cute!Book provided by publisher.

Bottom Line: I was enjoying the ride so much that I didn't want it to end.I've liked all the Witching Savannah books, but this one is really special--and not just because it's giving us so much more insight into the beloved character of Jilo. The characters are richly developed, the social and historical threads are engaging (without being heavy-handed), and the portrayal of the occult is very cool and well-suited to the time/place/culture. I love that Jilo and her ancestors have such fundamentally human motivations and conflicts that drive everything they do.This book is a prequel, so naturally the end of "Jilo" connects to the rest of the series. I would recommend reading the series in the order they were written to get the most out of the connecting passages, but that definitely isn't a requirement.

I thought this book was excellent, actually. I should probably give it 5 stars, rather than 4. Like the other books in the series, it is very well written and hard to put down. I was hoping for everything to come around and reconnect with present day but this is a true backstory of Jilo. It takes one of the most compelling characters in the Witching Savannah series and allows us to see how she became who she is. There is a lot to her story. I think the reason I couldn't bring myself to go all the way to 5 stars is that the story is sad. It is however, very very good.

I have read all of the books in the Witching Savannah series thus far. Really, if you want the story in chronological order Jilo should have come first, since she plays such a pivotal role in the other three books and this is her story BEFORE the events of the other books.That being said, this is the best written book in the Witching Savannah series. The first book (The Line) read as a bit of a new author who really needed one or two more rewrites and a better editor. However, as the books progressed, the writing improved. This is a Amazon-published series, and with these books, you often find authors developing their skills as they go.If you're willing to go through the journey with an author, you can find some good ones along the line. The Witching Savannah series is one of those diamonds in the rough. If you like magical, semi-urban fantasy stories written by new authors, then give this series a try.

If you haven't read this author yet, please do so. I have read many of JD's books and every one of them is great. Once in awhile, I will run across a writer that I just have to read everything he/she has written. Also, I must say at my age I have read many authors and few have impressed me as J D. "Jilo" is a character we first met in the first "Witching Savannah" series. With her strong countenance and presence insisted that J D tell her story. I feel her story isn't over because there is more to tell.Please read "Witching Savannah' series and the last one {so far, I hope}. You won't be disappointed. This man knows how to write a story!

What a wonderful book to be the 4th in the series. A great novel of history and foundation to learn of Jilo's past and all the previous Witching Savannah novels woven in the pages. Reading this fills in knowledge of the future. From her young life, her school years and her coming into magic. I love how the relation to Edwin and Ginny are given a beginning here. It explains why Jilo feels the way she does in earlier novels. And, how her life is tied to the Taylor's.Just love these books and the people in them. Love the writing style and character development! Sure hope there are more to come! I don't think I could get tired of the progression of their lives unfolding on the pages!

I liked this story. I liked the knowledge of how Mama Jilo came to be. I liked learning how how all the witches were connected. I thought it was a good "after" prequel, since it came after the other books.I would reread the book and I did like the many variety of characters. There were a few relationships I couldn't understand, so had a hard time giving it 5 stars because of that. I know it is life and that there are people that have those types of relationships, but it makes me sad for them.Really liked all the layers and generations in this story. Would suggest for the reader who enjoys magic and witches!

Jilo is a prequel to the Witching Savannah Series. It starts telling the story of the Wills women starting at Tuesday Jackson funeral. Jilo is one of my favorite characters of this series and I love getting to know her better. We also get to see Ginny Taylor in a different light also. She apparently was a very admirable women. This book should be read after the Void. Even though this is a prequel you will need some background knowledge to understand some aspects of this book.

To date I have read all of the "Witching Savannah" Books and thoroughly enjoyed them. I love the kind of book that tells a ripping good story and teaches you the history of a people and an area. It's an education, but you grow to love (and in some cases hate, the people you read about.)J.D. Horn writes so well that you tend to forget that what you are reading is a work of fiction even though much of the history seems to be factual... I don't know where it will go from here but I was sad to find myself at the end of this book. I hope that there will be more to say about these families and the Gullah people. I have read other books about the history of the Gullah people but not many that were so well written. Thank you for writing them, and thank you for bringing the history of the people to life...capsaicinus

This is a required book for my nursing course and to be honest I have the 5th edition also (but it didn't give me the correct page numbers to cite for the course so I had to replace it). Well the 5th edition is better. they have practice questions at the end of each section that were good but the chapter reviews, you have to go online and download the answer key. This is just annoying, it should be in the back of the book as a reference if needed. Also the pictures and diagrams just blend in. Important info is only found in some of the tables and boxes, but it would be a lot better if that information was in the text as well.

I am using this e-book on my iPad & iMac computer; both work perfectly! Something important to me when I considered buying this e-book was that the pages be numbered just like opening up paper version. This was a necessity for me because I am using it for school purposes and makes life a lot easier when trying to follow a rubric.The book itself is AMAZING. I have never actually written a review for a textbook before, but I felt compelled because of how much this book has helped me out though nursing school. Everything from the patho, pharm, & health assessment, to the care of the patient at the bed side can be easily accessed in this book, and the charts are fabulous. High-Acuity Nursing is by far the best text book I have opened up to read and I hope you have the same experience!

Though not required for my nursing class, the instructor highly recommended this book as an unofficial accompaniment. Between the required text (Brunner and Suddarth's Textbook of Medical-Surgical Nursing, 13th ed) and this one, concepts are fully explored. B&S is a great book, but sometimes I need a different way of seeing things, and High-Acuity Nursing provides that. In addition, B&S is looking at things from a Med-Surg point of view (sub-critical Acute and Chronic) while H-A N looks at things from critical-acute point of view. It isn't as extensive as B&S, but I would still recommend this book as an addition to your library, even if it isn't required.

Definitely one of my favorite nursing books. One of the few nursing books I read over and over and very applicable to the real world. I still keep this and read occasionally as I am a new grad RN in the ICU.

Love this book for complex care class. Gives much better explanation and details about the different topics/subjects. Probably the only nursing book that I actually felt was worth the price.

Laminate the pages so your tears roll off.

The book’s content is okay but the cover and the spine are extremely damaged.

It answers my questions .....

The book is suppose to be for new computer users and seniors. First of all, I had difficulty reading it even with reader glasses. Second the buttons and keyboard pictures were in black and white and almost impossible to read. I believe the book should have a keyboard picture with color and really like the real keyboard. Some of the explanations were helpful, but it certainly did not teach me anything . I don't believe most beginners on a computer would find this book helpful. Just a clarification. Not only the keyboard picture fuzzy, but the pictures of the screen were grey. Not easily able to read or realistic since they were not in color.

I gave this book to my dad for his birthday along with a new laptop computer that runs Windows 8. I thought this would be perfect because then I would not have to always be explaining to him how to do simple things like use the internet or find something on his computer. Well my dad said its ok but it doesn't go into enough details in things that he needs it to or doesn't even cover them, and then there is some stuff in there that he said is way to complicated and he doesn't even know what they are talking about. Needless to say he will try to use the book on very rare occasions but usually he comes to me for help. A little disappointed but it was worth a shot.

I wanted a book for the computer illiterate and this is not. Does not eve show how to cut and paste.

I GUESS I NEED A BOOK FOR COMPLETE MORONS.

I love this book because it explains things where "older" people can easily understand the computer stuff of today. I have some computer knowledge. I did clerical work all during my working career until I got breast cancer and can no longer work. This book helps me be updated with my laptop. I love the book!

I actually bought this for someone who has been in prison for about 21 years. He doesn't know much about computers so I had to explain a lot to him whenever I wrote about my comuter, which I use a lot. He says the book has taught him a lot, so I don't have to explain many computer things to him anymore. I suspect it would be equally helpful for anyone who knows little about computers. My friend isn't a "senior," but the description of this book was closest to what I was looking for for him.

I was born in the 50's so I never learned anything about computers. I took typing in high school. I got introduced to computers in the mid 90's, but really new nothing more than e-mail. Now, I figured it's time to learn something so I can do more. This book is real informative, easy to read, and with a lot of practice, I might be able to remember what I learn. But I have the reference in case I forget.

bought for my husband who at the age of 60 decided he wanted to learn to use a computer. The book is exactly as described, except that if you don't already have some computer knowledge its going to be foreign to you. You need to already know what a search engine is, what the desk top is, etc. the book doesn't cover any of the very basic stuff.
