 This is my second coloring book by Camilla d’Errico. The coloring book is filled with imaginative and unusual Manga style designs base on the artist original artwork. The main subject are the mermaid girls with their big, pensive eyes. There are other sea creatures, too, sometimes incorporated into the headgear of the girl.As with the first book, many of the images are simply headshots with unusual looks to them (including the unusual headgear.) There are full and partial body designs as well, most of which are printed on one page but some spread across two pages (more so in this book than in the previous one.)The designs and how they are printed are consistent with the first book and met my expectations. The artwork is, once again, unusual and inventive and will make coloring in this book fun.The designs are detailed and some are intricate. Coloring them is definitely akin to coloring artwork rather than simple line drawings. There is also more shading in a few of the designs in this book which border on grayscale.This is what I found in this book70 pages of imaginative and unusual Manga style mermaid and sea creature designsPrinted on both sides of the pagePaper is heavy weight, white, slightly rough and non-perforatedGlue bindingDesigns merge into the binding area and a number of them cross over the binding for a two-page designBook can be opened fairly flat but takes some effort and breaks the spine of the book.Alcohol-based markers bleed through the paper. If you use this medium, you will mar the designs on the back of the page with the bleed through. You can minimize the damage to just the back of the page if you use a card stock blotter below your working page.Water-based markers, India ink pens, and gel pens do not bleed through or leave shadows. Some gel pens require additional drying time.Colored pencils work well with this paper. I found that I could layers the same color for deeper pigment or multiple colors and I could blend easily using a blending stick. I tested both oil and wax based pencils.My choice of medium with this book, as with the first by this artist, will be colored pencils.

I really didn't want to leave this review, because Camilla is one of my very favorite artists, and I ordered this the second I first heard about it, and then I impatiently waited for it to arrive. Then it came, and I couldn't wait to color it, because the images were somehow even better than the ones in Pop Manga.The disappointment came when I started to color. The paper is horrid. I was unable to use my colorless blender, pastels, ink pens, and watercolors. I have never encountered an issue with those mediums in any other book. I have used all of them in Pop Manga without an issue. This paper is too smooth or something. The paper began to disintegrate when water touched it.I guess I am just confused, because the other reviews praise the paper, and someone else on here did a beautiful watercolor picture. Did I get a dud?

I have her other pop Manga book so decided to get this one because it seemed to have less metal in it. It's almost like two different artists drew the pictures. Half are of the same type as the other book and the others are simple line drawings. Maybe the artist is just broadening her creative strokes but I prefer the pics like are in the original. There are still enough pages in this one to make this book worth the money.

I am a huge fan of Camilla d’Errico and was very happy with the release of this book. Some wanted more variety and I feel it’s in the author’s style and there is just enough. I wish that the pictures were on their own pages but the paper quality is awesome and I can’t wait for more releases.

I really enjoy her as an artist so I am always thrilled when she releases something new. As an avid collector of her works both art books, prints, drawing books, and her other coloring book I was anxiously awaiting this items release. I was not disappointed. Great quality with so many images that are new and refreshing. If you love beautiful art and like the chance to create some of your own by coloring these lovely images I recommend it.

The moment I opened this book I was in love! I absolutely love coloring in this book, the pictures are awesome and a lot of fun to color...I don't even know where to color next... I get to use so many color choices because I feel good using my imagination...I'm really bad in most books feeling like I have to color things in the color that it really would be... The paper is great too, I've been able to use markers and water colors. I love the size of her drawings they're larger and up close so once done it all just looks so dramatic and bold...I just had to order her other book, the first one. I just got that one today. She's now one of my favorite.

I love the pictures in this book. The pictures are strange but in a good way! The pictures allow one to be creative with color pallets and mediums. I use pencils, markers, pastels, and acrylic paint in this book. The paper is good quality and there are plenty of pictures to choose from. The only negative I would give this coloring book is that the images are on both sides of the page so I have had to sacrifice some pictures when I use markers.

I had read a review that said to skip the 1.5 book if your kid did well or found the 1 easy. My daughter cruised through 1 so I went back and forth on whether or not to do 1.5 but decided it couldn't hurt. I'm glad I got it. It's a little different but not enough to make it a big leap or repetitive enough to make it boring or too easy. I like for my daughter to be successful and feel almost as if she can do it on her own, while giving her just enough challenge that she stays interested and keeps learning and progressing. So this book is perfect for us. -- as far as explode the code in general, I really love these books! The pictures could use improvement but my daughter 96% of the time can see what they are right off the bat and I never have a problem.

Perfect for my 5 year old. We home school and are working on phonics. We just completed explode the code book 1 and I decided to go with 1 1/2 instead of going into book 2. I’m glad I did. I recommend this book if your student did good in the first one but didn’t strongly grasp all of it. It’s review of the first book with some new concepts added. I don’t know I would probably still have chosen to do this one even if my child had whizzed through the first. It’s good practice and unless your child was bored with the first I would highly recommend.

I have been using Explode the Code books with my son for a little over a year now. I chose them because they seemed to get good reviews and many of the homeschoolers I follow online say they like these books.The books are all simple and straightforward. No need to plan ahead, just pick up and start working. The drawings are simple as well and not too distracting - although a couple times, it wasn't very clear to me what the drawings were indicating.Overall, though, they are very easy to use and my son doesn't argue about doing his work at all. I think, though, that the 1/2 issues are not really necessary for my son now, because he seems to get a little bored sometimes. I think this is just because we are reviewing content he has already mastered. So, if your child is doing well, skip the 1/2 issues and move ahead to the next full level book.

I've used Explode the Code for years wth students learning to read with phonics. The drawings are fun and the learning is sequential with multiple practices. The phonics skill is then practiced in comprehension exercises.

We love Explode The Code. My daughter just finished the first book but wasn't ready to go on to number 2. I love these half books for extra practice

Absolutely fantastic! Loved Explode the Code 1, and my daughter still needed a little more review. This book is perfect! LOVE!

It keeps the lessons fresh and allows for more practice. My only issue is that some of the pictures are very subjective to interpretation which throws the little one. That is my only complaint so far.

My child loved the quirky sentences and it was the perfect resource for cementing understanding of phonics.

This book explores a topic that is not often talked about. While i was often told to "stop being so sensitive" or that I was "too sensitive" when I was growing up, it is nice to hear that sensitivity can be a gift. After years of trying to be something that I am not, I am finally at the point where I want to embrace my sensitivity. That being said, there is a definite need for practical advice on how to use sensitivity in service of others. This book does a lot to explain spiritual sensitivity and offers some practical pointers. The main benefit for reading this book is in gaining a better understanding of sensitivity but I found myself still wondering how develop the gift of sensitivity. Overall, very helpful and insightful but not as useful or practical as I would have liked.

The book started slowly and very repetitively, to the tune that after almost 100 pages I thought I would not finish it at all.But I surely was glad that I persevered. The second half of the book was absolutely great (starting about chapter 9 onwards).Very good insights here for highly sensitive people, and written from biblical perspective. Also the prayers outlined in the book for healing were very practical, and 'street smarts' that the author gives to burden bearers.So, press on the first part of the book (which may feel too theoretical and theological) and you will be glad when you get to the second half.

This book is speaking to me on so many levels. Anyone who thinks they may be a burden bearer and is struggling, please read this.

Not only is the book informative for burden bearers but for anybody that has highly sensitive people in their life.Packed with detailed prayers from dealing with the burdens of others to casting your own hurts over to God.

Persons who have been trusted with this difficult gift from God seldom understand why life seemed so complicated during their childhood and why we are burdened with pain and stress as adults. Carol leads us through the healing process we need to rightly use this gift in the way God intended. It is a well written book with many examples from her own personal journey.

This book is an excellent introduction to the subject. It will reassure the spiritually sensitive person that they are not crazy or deformed, and will help them navigate the minefield of other people's feelings to a place of blessing and confidence. Practical and Scriptural, outlining the purpose of this wonderful gift and how to exercise it safely and effectively. Brown writes from a background of personal experience and Christian orthodoxy but welcomes the role of the human imagination submitted to God. This book will be especially helpful to people who are afraid of or confused by their experiences on religious grounds. It is a handbook to re-read many times and learn from. I also recommend Brown's second book "Highly Sensitive", focused more on the practical aspects of living in a world that is sometimes too intense.

I did not read it in one setting which may have been more helpful. Some portions were highly relevant, providing tools for ministry and understanding self. Other portions provided an awareness regarding other people.

This book helped me understand myself better and how to live in this world as a highly sensitive person victoriously.

I have always lived in Cincinnati, and I love books about the Queen City and its history, especially paranormal history. So I was excited when I spotted the Cincinnati Haunted handbook on the shelf. Now, there are some pretty good Cincinnati ghost books out there, but what makes this one unique is that it doesn't get bogged down with too many details. Each haunted site has a two page spread with just enough information about the history of the site, a photo, then the ghost story is outlined. The directions and tips are indispensable for the amateur ghost hunter. The authors have been to every site in the book, and give good advice on on safety and the best times to see the paranormal activity.Now, any spooky reader in Cincinnati knows the standards: Bobby Mackey's Music World, Music Hall, the Taft Museum. This book goes way beyond the standards, there are sites and stories in this book that I've never heard of, and I've been a spooky Cincinnatian for forty years!I really enjoyed it, and recommend it for anyone living or visiting in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area. These authors really know their stuff!

I thought St. Augustine, Monticello, and Key West were haunted. I was surprised to read about so many haunted places in Cincinnati. Jeff and Michael Morris have done a great job covering the paranormal activity in this wonderful city. I haven't been there in a long time, but I'm headed that way after reading this book.

I returned this book, it was not what I thought it was. I was under the impressionthat it was stories about haunted places in Cincinnati, did not realize it was a handbook.I no longer live in Cincinnati, therefore would not be visiting these places.

If you've never been to the French Polynesia, this is a great book to start with. If you are planning to check out a few islands as we did, it gives a lot of good information with low, middle and high prices. I particularly enjoyed the little history sections it had for each island. However, some islands are still wilder than others and Moorea is a great example. It was very hard to find places that were mentioned in the book, simply because the locals don't care as much about tourists as some other islands do and they don't mark their establishments so that they can be seen easily from the road. So take the book with you but always explore and find those hidden gems. We did and found amazing places.

Maps are clear enough to plot out trips for the day, the week, or the whole vacation.Lonely Planet is my go-to for guide books, due to the depth of research and information provided.I picked this up for a friend who was going to Guam, and I was most impressed by the data provided in the form of history of the island, factoids, customs, and specialties.I would pick up a Lonely Planet guide for all of my travels, and this one was especially well-received.

I'm extremely impressed at the South Pacific book by LP. Sometimes with books that are published as multi-country guides, you're worried that they're going to totally miss the smaller islands that themselves don't warrant their own individual books. To my surprise, places like Niue, Tuvalu, Pitcairn Island (itself a curious choice) were covered and yet misses Nauru and Palau.However, nitpicking aside, this is a really good book, even for travel book standards. It's pretty comprehensive, and you can tell that the book had boots on the ground instead of less dubious LP authors just writing about what they find on the internet.As someone who likes to find a brand of travel books and stick with them, I feel that Lonely Planet fell apart over the last few years and are slowly getting back to the top of the heap. I plan to use this book as the primary source of information for Fiji and Tuvalu for starters, and then see where the winds take me. I'm happy with a travel book for once, and that says a lot.

I love this travel guide a whole lot. I'll be sure to use it when I go to the South Pacific.Some of the page corners were bent when it arrived, and it felt like it was used, but it's still okay otherwise.
